Richard completed both his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Counseling at New Jersey City University. He further enhanced his training at Alliance Community Healthcare, where he focused on a humanistic approach to individual and group counseling.
Richard has a robust background in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families within the Jersey City community. His clinical work has included the application of various therapeutic models and techniques, such as de-escalation skills, community support, and cognitive restructuring to challenge negative thinking. Richard is skilled in assessing and addressing suicidality, depression, and anxiety, and has provided support to families dealing with behavioral issues in teens as well as ongoing support for those affected by domestic violence, trauma, and depression.
Richard has recently completed training focused on opioid addiction and has acquired skills in Motivational Interviewing, The Nurtured Heart Approach, Trauma Informed Care, and Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT). His training under the supervision of Dr. Vaibhavee Agaskar has equipped him to provide screenings in a non-judgmental manner, fostering a supportive and empowering environment for his clients.
