Elissa (Ellie) Scano completed both her undergraduate degree in Communication and her Master’s degree in Social Work at Monmouth University. Her training included clinical counseling for children, adolescents, and adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with a strong emphasis on cognitive-behavioral theory (CBT) and person-centered practices.
Ellie has extensive experience working with youth aged 4-15 in school settings and outpatient facilities through the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County. She has also worked with adults, children, families, and couples at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in the palliative care department, providing emotional support and therapeutic interventions for those dealing with chronic illnesses and grief. Her diverse professional background has enabled her to develop a broad range of therapeutic techniques, including mindfulness, family systems theory, and psychodynamic approaches.
Ellie employs mindfulness and body-awareness techniques to enhance clients’ life quality and meaning. She focuses on helping clients connect with their emotional needs and intuition, increasing self-awareness and managing symptoms of anxiety and depression. Additionally, her use of CBT and trauma-focused therapies aims to adjust perspectives and heal past traumas, fundamentally improving clients’ life experiences.
