Educational Background

Charlene completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Justice Studies at The College of New Jersey and obtained a Master’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers State University. Charlene has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families using various theoretical models and techniques.

Experience

Charlene draws from diverse theoretical orientations in her clinical work and is experienced working with a broad range of presenting problems, including counseling and substance abuse assessments for individuals and their families, counseling for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families, counseling for adults and children affected by domestic violence and/or trauma, single-parent and divorced families, as well as children, teens, and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harm, and substance abuse.

Charlene uses various mindfulness and body-awareness techniques to increase life satisfaction measures and decrease any symptoms of anxiety and depression. She uses a collaborative individualized approach by integrating principles of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy with various mindfulness techniques to bridge mind and body-awareness.  She also has experience working in the partial level of care with clients struggling with mental health diagnoses and co-occurring substance use.
